Ingredients:
- 1 cup basmati rice
- 1 cup green peas
- 1½ tablespoon Masale bhat masala
- 1 tablespoon cashew pieces
- 2 tablespoon oil
- 1 tablespoon butter/ghee
- 1 tablespoon ginger+green chili paste
- 1 tablespoon beaten yogurt
- ½ teaspoon mustard seeds
- Pinch of asafoetida
- 1 spring curry leaves
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- Salt to taste
- 3 cup water
- ¼ teaspoon turmeric powder
- Chopped cilantro to garnish
- Fresh grated coconut to garnish
Method:
- Wash and rinse rice and keep it aside.
- Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds. Let them crackle. Add asafoetida, turmeric powder, and curry leaves.
- Add green peas and cashew pieces and saute for a while. Add rinsed rice and mix everything.
- Meanwhile, add water to another pan and start heating.
- Add masale bhat powder, sugar,and salt to the rice. Add beaten yogurt and stir everything together.
- Add hot/boiling water to the rice. Put the lid on a pan and let the rice cook properly. Check in between to make sure the rice is not sticking to the pan.
- When the rice is cooked switch off the flame. Add ghee/butter to the rice and put the lid on.
- Garnish with cilantro and coconut.
