Masala Papad

Ingredients:

  • 2 papads
  • 1 onion chopped finely
  • 1 tomato chopped finely
  • Red chilli powder
  • Chaat Masala
  • Nylon sev
  • 2 tablespoon chopped cilantro
  • Oil to fry papad

Method:

  1. Mix chopped tomato and onion in a bowl.
  2. Cut each of the papad into 4 triangles. Heat oil in a pan. Fry all the papad triangles. Drain them on paper and keep it aside.
  3. Spread a tablespoon of tomato-onion mixture on each triangle. Sprinkle red chilli powder, chaat masala, and nylon sev on top. Garnish with chopped cilantro.
  4. Serve immediately.

Oats Khichdi

Oats Khichdi

Ingredients:

  • ½ cup oats
  • ½ cup yellow moong daal
  • 1 cup mix vegetables
  • 1 tablespoon ginger grated
  • 1 green chili chopped
  • ¼ teaspoon turmeric
  • ½ teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon oil
  • ½ teaspoon cumin seeds
  • Pinch of asafoetida
  • 5-6 curry leaves
  • ½ teaspooon red chilli powder
  • 3 cups water
  • 1 tablespoon chopped cilantro

Method:

  1. Wash and rinse moong dal and keep it aside.
  2. Heat oil in a pressure cooker. Add cumin seeds. As soon as it starts splatter, add asafoetida, curry leaves, ginger and chopped chili. Saute well.
  3. Add chopped vegetables, turmeric powder,sugar and red chilli powder. Add oats and moong dal. Mix everything.
  4. Boil 3 cups of water in a seperate bowl. Add the boiling water to the pressure cooker. Put the lid on and cook khichdi upto 4-5 whistles. Turn off the flame and wait until the pressure is down.
  5. Open the lid and stir the khichadi. Garnish with chopped cilantro.
  6. Serve immediately with kadhi or yogurt.
